Asdivine Saga

Price: $6.99 with in-app purchases

Asdivine Saga is the latest JRPG from Kemco. It’s also the eighth game in the long-running Asdivine series. It has 1990’s console style mechanics and graphics. Players wander around the world map, towns, and dungeons as they complete the story and beat up tons of monsters. This one follows the story of Vyse as he tries to uncover secrets to an evil plot. You don’t have to play the previous games to enjoy this one and anyone who’s played a JRPG before knows what they’re in for here. It runs for $6.99 and you can buy stuff with optional in-app purchases to quicken your play-through if you want to.

Astracraft

Price: Free

Astracraft is a mech building sandbox game. Players build up a mech from a variety of parts and then battle them with one another. There are also extra things like the ability to project holograms, smoke bombs, EMP generators, and other such things. The game play loop is pretty basic. You build a robot, fight to earn upgrades, and then fight with the upgrades. The customization is excellent, but it is a young game so there aren’t a ton of parts yet and the online multiplayer leaves much to be desired. Otherwise, it’s fun.

Basketball vs Zombies

Price: Free / Up to $2.99

Basketball vs Zombies is a short, but entertaining game. You basically kill zombies as fast as you can and pop their heads into a basketball hoop. There really isn’t much else to say about the game play. It’s good for five minute bursts but since that’s the point, it’s not all that bad. The game has over 50 skins and 60 weapons for some customization. The pixel art won’t win any awards, but it’s still a fun little time killer.

Dream Score: Soccer Champion

Price: Free to play

Dream Score: Soccer Champion is a soccer simulator. You start by building up a team and then devising strategies for them to win during games. There is some actual soccer game play in this one although not quite as deep as some others. The team building, on the other hand, is. There are over 1,000 players to choose from, including some the game’s greats. The strategy elements are fun and there is a PvE mode in case you don’t want to deal with other players online. It still has some balancing and network issues, but it is new so the developers will likely work on those over time.

Gordon Ramsay: Chef Blast

Price: Free to play

Gordon Ramsay: Chef Blast is an arcade match-three style game. The game play is fairly standard match-three style. Players move objects around on the game board until shapes match and disappear. There are also various power-ups and other tools to help get the job done faster. Recipes unlock as you play and represent the collectible element to the game. Gordon Ramsay actually has voice overs in the game and people seem to enjoy that part quite a bit. It’s a free to play game so just remember that if you try it.

Onmyoji: The Card Game

Price: Free to play

Onmyoji: The Card Game is a card game spinoff from the popular Onmyoji series. As a card game, the rules are fairly simple. You put cards out onto the battlefield and the first player to knock the other player’s health to zero wins. There are a variety of cards to earn and various decks to build. There is also a pretty good PvE story mode to play through as well. The PvP elements need a bit of balancing since some overpowered cards are only available via real money purchases, but the game is otherwise pretty good.

Princess Connect! Re:Dive

Price: Free to play

Princess Connect! Re:Dive saw a global launch after a couple of years as a Japanese exclusive game. This one is a mobile gacha RPG. You know how these work. You summon characters, level them up, and use them to progress through the game. Characters have a swath of special abilities along with synergy abilities. The combat is a bit lame and auto battle is the flavor of the day there. The game, similar to games like Azur Lane, is more about collecting the characters than completing a story. Still, it’s fun for people who like these type of games.

Raising Archangel

Price: Free to play

Raising Archangel is an idle game with some RPG mechanics. The game starts with a weak character and you level her up as she fights so that she can fight tougher enemies. It boasts over 60 pieces of gear, a relic system for extra special effects, and a decent progression system. There is even a PvP section if you care to try it out. Unfortunately, the in-app purchases are way too expensive for what you get. That seems to be the biggest pain point for most players right now. There is also a very expensive (and not at all worth it) Battle Pass for $17.99 that we honestly don’t recommend.

Run Boggo Run

Price: $0.99

Run Boggo Run is an endless runner style game by, believe it or not, BuzzFeed. A monster chases you while you while you dodge obstacles in various ways. The monster catches you if you hit too many obstacles. The game is a little bit more difficult than most endless runners despite the slower game play. Most of the game’s negative reviews are from people who can’t get it quite down. In any case, it’s an entertaining runner, especially for its $0.99 price tag.

Stella Arcana

Price: Free to play

Stella Arcana is an MMORPG. The game features most of the usual and desirable things for an MMORPG. Some of the features include an open world, tons of quests to do, and various co-op and PvP events with other players. The graphics are pretty usual for a game in this genre but by no means is it bad. Plus, the story line is actually pretty good and you can do things like keep pets and own a house. The big complaints are networking issues at the moment so be weary of those.
