The APAN Music Awards 2020 took place on Sunday, January 24. The annual awards function, which usually takes place in the second half of the year, was scheduled for January owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While popular vote categories, the Top 10 artists, and the APAN Choice awards were previously announced, a number of other awards were announced on Sunday. This included the Daesang, Best Music Video and other similar awards. BTS was awarded the Daesang (Grand Prize) while BLACKPINK lifted the Best Music Video award.
BTS also bagged the Idol Champ Fan’s Pick – Group award and featured in the Top 10 Artists category. BLACKPINK was awarded Idol Champ Global Pick – Group. K-pop groups like TWICE, MONSTA X and NCT 127 also won a few awards. Individual artists like Kang Daniel and IU also shined at the awards show with their victories.
