The Baahubali franchise was a game changer in the entertainment industry as it didn’t only gave us a pan-India star like Prabhas but also paved a way for south films in the north-Indian markets. While Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s portrayal of Baahubali and Bhallaladeva, garnered appreciation from all pockets of the world, we can’t deny the fact that even talented Ramya Krishnan won our hearts with her impeccable portrayal of Queen Sivagami. Now, the streaming giant Netflix is all set to present her journey with a nine-episode series, which is titled Baahubali: Before The Beginning.
Produced by SS Rajamouli and Netflix, the project was scrapped by the makers after the 70 per cent of the shooting as they didn’t like the product. Talking about it, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers were not happy with the way the film was shaping up. They shot almost 70% of the film and decided to scrap it completely as they didn’t want to compromise on the quality.” While the makers are restarting the project and alloted Rs 200 crore for it, Mrunal Thakur has been replaced by the Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi as the Jersey actress doesn’t have dates. “Mrunal doesn’t have any more dates to shoot the whole thing again. So the team have now got Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi, who also played a few smaller parts in Hindi films like Jab We Met, Mausam and Love Aaj Kal. They have already chalked out a plan and the series will be in place by the year end,” added the source. The makers are going all out to make sure they deliver the biggest visual spectacle for a web series.
The nine episode show is the prequel to Baahubali: The Beginning. So, are you excited for this mega-budget project? Tweet and let us know @bollywood_life.
