Veteran Team India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has set his eyes on the upcoming series against England to make a comeback after a long injury lay-off. He has finally returned to cricket playing for Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and will be eying an international comeback now.

Incidentally, Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered an injury during IPL 2020 playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He missed the entire Australian tour and was at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru undergoing rehabilitation.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Kumar has made it clear that he is targeting the England series at home to make a comeback before IPL 2021 which is likely to start in April. India will play 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs against England and the selectors announced the squad for the first two Tests which didn’t feature Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“I am raring to go against England. I am fit after recovering from injury. I did my rehab well at the National Cricket Academy and am playing in Mushtaq Ali Trophy to prove my match fitness.

Before IPL, my mission is to do well against England and I am looking forward to the opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities this year, but I am taking it one by one,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Meanwhile, India are currently gripped with a handful of injuries with Umesh Yadav down with a calf injury while Mohammed Shami suffered a fractured arm during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide.

After not attracting the selectors for the first two Tests against England, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be looking to make it into the squad for the final two matches of the series followed by the limited-overs leg. If he manages to make it to the Test side, it will be a return after three years.
