BTS’ Dynamite goes GOLD in the United Kingdom; First K Pop act to achieve this impressive milestone

“Light it up like a Dynamite”; it seems like Dynamite is reveling in the glory of its own lyrics! Dynamite is a pop-disco track that was released as a single on August 21, 2020, in the thick of a global lockdown due to the pandemic. The funky vibe peppered with colorful visuals struck a chord with ARMY as Dynamite recorded 101.1 million views on YouTube within 24 hours. It also achieved a number one ranking on Billboard Hot 100 on September 1, and stayed number one for two consecutive weeks. Dynamite is part of BTS” fifth studio album BE.

Seems like Dynamite is on a record-making spree. According to a report by Soompi, Dynamite has now reached Gold certification in the United Kingdom, becoming the first single by a K-Pop group to achieve this amazing feat! The British Phonographic Industry shared on February 5 that Dynamite has now reached Gold BRIT certification. A single by an artist has to achieve 400,000 units in order to earn Gold certification in the United Kingdom.

In addition to having their first-ever single go gold in the UK; BTS’ previous albums Love Yourself: Answer and Map Of The Soul: Persona have achieved gold certifications too. The combination of all of the above achievements makes BTS the only Korean artists to have a Gold-certified single and multiple Gold albums in their roster of awards.

BTS is currently gearing up for the release of BE: essential edition on February 19. Congratulations to the super septet on this incredible milestone.
