Even though it”s been quite a while since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bid farewell to their royal roles and established a new life with their son Archie in Los Angeles, the couple continues to be a target of many rumoured and speculative pieces. Quite recently, it was reported by a UK tabloid that as a ‘snub’ to sister-in-law Kate Middleton; who uses her full name on William and her children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ birth certificates, Markle’s given name was said to be dropped from Archie’s birth certificate.

Instead of Rachel Meghan, Archie’s official document now states “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex” in the mother box while a ‘Prince’ was added to Harry’s name as “His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex” in the father box. According to Entertainment Tonight, the changes in Archie’s certificate is said to have been made back on June 5, 2019, which is almost a month after Harry and Meghan welcomed their first child. Slamming the speculations in a staunch statement was Meghan’s spokesperson, who shared with ET, “The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials. This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex.”

Furthermore, in a direct dig at the particular UK tabloid and their “carnival of so-called experts,” who published the report, the rep stated that it “would be laughable were it not offensive” to see them deceptively whip the news into a calculated family “snub” and suggest that Markle would oddly want to be nameless on Archie’s birth certificate or any other legal document for that matter.

“There’s a lot going on in the world; let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait,” the spokesperson concluded.
