Joe Biden has finally taken office! Now the historic team is officialy–President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris! Both trailblazers made history as they were both just sworn in on in the U.S. Capitol building today on January 20, 2021. Both the political figures were accompanied by their respective spouses, Dr. Jill Biden and Douglas Emhoff. The Vice President is making history today as the first female, first African American and first Asian America Vice President in United States history.

 

As soon as they were sworn in, many celebrities took to social media and congratulated the duo on the historic win. While Oprah took to Instagram and said: “In tears watching this extraordinary moment for women in the U.S. and the world. Vice President @kamalaharris,” Mindy Kaling shared a picture of her daughter watching the inauguration ceremony and wrote “She said. “Is that mommy? It looks like mommy.” Best compliment I ever got! It matters. Happy Inauguration everyone.” 

 

Hailey Bieber was also among the ones celebrating, the model wrote on Instagram: “Such an emotional day. A hopeful day for America! President Biden and Vice President Harris!!!!!!!!” And Viola Davis wrote: “I call this a beginning, a do over, a genesis…..I am ready to do better because I know better. ‘Where liberty dwells, there lies my country’. Happy Inauguration Day!!!”

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent his warm wishes to new US President Joe Biden and said that he “Looks forward to working with him” via NDTV. The Vice President herself also took to Twitter and wrote “For the people—always,” right after the ceremony. While POTUS Joe Biden tweeted: “It’s a new day in America.”
