Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh on Saturday said that he thinks the ongoing second Test between India and England will get over in 3 to 3.5 days looking at the condition of the pitch.

The wicket in the first Test of the 4-Test series hadn’t provided much assistance to the spinners, but the second Test is turning out to be a somewhat completely different story on the same ground in Chennai as spinners dominated 1st day’s play besides opener Rohit Sharma scoring 161.

Harbhajan Singh Tweets The 2nd Test Will Get Over Within 3 1/2 Days While Michael Vaughan Terms Pitch As Beach

England spinners Moeen Ali and Jack Leach picked 2 scalps apiece and part-time spinner skipper Joe Root picked the scalp-that of Ravichandran Ashwin as India managed 300/6 at the end of the 1st day’s play.

As the Chepauk pitch continued to provide assistance to the spinners on the very first day of the second Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, former England skipper Michael Vaughan also termed the wicket as a “beach” on Saturday while Harbhajan Singh tweeted that the match will be over in maximum 3 and 1/2 days seeing the ball spinning.

Michael Vaughan mentioned that it will be a remarkable victory if England wins despite losing the toss on the Chennai ‘beach’. Michael Vaughan reckons 300 will be a good enough score in 1st innings which is equivalent to 500 in 1st Test.

Rohit Sharma Scores 161 While Kuldeep Yadav Returns To Squad

For India, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj came in place of Shahbaz Nadeem, Washington Sundar, and Jasprit Bumrah. On the other hand, England made four changes by bringing in Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone, and Ben Foakes in place of Dominic Bess, Jofra Archer, James Anderson, and Jos Buttler.

The 26-year-old spinner Kuldeep Yadav finally played a Test after the one against Australia in January 2019. He debuted in Tests in 2017 but has featured in only 6 Tests, before the 2nd Test at Chennai, where he picked 24 scalps averaging 24.12.

Rohit Sharma scored 161 off 231 balls including 18 hits to the fence and 2 sixes. India is 300/6 at stumps in 88 overs after the 1st day’s play with Ajinkya Rahane dismissed on 67 and the Mumbai Indians skipper and opener dismissed on 161.

Kuldeep Yadav didn’t feature in a Test for over two years and the fact that he didn’t play the opening Test at the Chepauk despite the hosts fielding three spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Washington Sundar raised a lot of eyebrows. Harbhajan Singh, veteran off-spinner is surprised with India’s decision to leave out wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav from their Playing XI for the first Test against England in Chennai.
