Residents of a house in Jankipuram in Lucknow are being haunted by mysterious sounds coming from one particular ‘wall’ in the house. According to Aarti, who has been living in the palatial house with her husband, daughter and mother-in-law since the past 27 years, the sounds emanating from a wall in her mother-in-law’s room.
“For the past two weeks, these noises have started in the house,” Aarti said.
The family initialy thought that the noises were coming from a neighbour’s house where construction was underway but got worried when the voices didn’t dissipate even after the construction stopped.
“But the noises then started coming even when there was no work in the neighbour’s house. My husband and I go out to work and my daughter and mother stay at home. The volume of the sounds has been increasing with every passing day,” Arti told reporters.
Aarti denied that the house was haunted as they had been living there for a long time. “We have been living here for so long. How can a house suddenly become haunted?” she said.
Aarti further said that a few days ago, when she was returning from work on her scooty, she heard a loud sound of a machine gun. “So scary it was that I fell down in shock,” she said.
The family has lodged a police complaint and a woman constable had been posted in the house but she did not hear any sound, said Joint Commissioner of Police (JPC) Nilabja Chaudhary.
“We are investigating the matter from all angles,” he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident said that a woman had died an unnatural death in a nearby house and since then, such rumours have been floating around.
Aarti, however, has said that they are educated people and don’t believe in all this. “We have been hearing sounds and are petrified because of this,” she stated.
