‘I Am Very Optimistic’: Virat Kohli On Royal Challenger Bangalore’s IPL 2021 Chances

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli joined his teammates in Chennai on Thursday. In the process, he has switched from one bubble to another and in the meantime has continued his training. Several players are out f quarantine and have started training as well. Like every year, the coaches and the support staff are very happy with the squad that they have roped in for the season. Virat Kohli too said that he is ‘optimistic and hopeful’ ahead of yet another IPL season.

Virat Kohli landed in Chennai on April 01 and entered the 7-day mandatory quarantine post completion of which he would be able to join his teammates in the training camp. In a brief chat with RCB, Kohli asserted confidence in his team’s ability to do better this time around.

“It feels surreal. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like we went away for too long as there was a lot of cricket in between as well but yeah, very excited that we are playing in India again. Although in a different way, in a different setting. I am very optimistic and yes I have a good feeling this time around,” Kohli said in a video posted by RCB.

Both AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli reached Chennai almost together. Both have the same dream of winning an IPL title for the franchise. Meanwhile, the gap between the two IPL seasons was just six months as the sides have assembled for yet another season. The turnaround has been short and quick and in between a lot of cricket has been played by India.

Kohli’s deputy AB de Villiers had also joined RCB on Thursday. The South African also echoed Kohli’s pre-season sentiments and hopes to have ‘a lot of fun’ this time around.

“It was a long journey. Very happy to be back with, it feels like yesterday that we finished the IPL. I feel we have the momentum from the last tournament and we’ll have a lot of fun,” said De Villiers.
