India vs England 2021: Ravindra Jadeja Ruled Out Of The England Test Series – Reports

Ravindra Jadeja

India’s left-arm all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the entire ongoing Test series against England at home, if reports from Cricbuzz on February 10, 2021, are to be believed. Ravindra Jadeja has been out of action since the India vs Australia Sydney Test match where he had suffered a blow to his right thumb.

Jadeja, 32, was later diagnosed with a dislocated thumb and was ruled out of the fourth Test of the series which was played at the Gabba in Brisbane. He also underwent surgery to set his thumb right and was then sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for ‘further management of his injury’.

He was not included in the Indian team squad for the first two Tests against England but was expected to get well for the remaining two Tests to be played in Ahmedabad and if he had gotten fit, Jadeja would have gone to Ahmedabad early for the mandatory quarantine to be ready to join the full squad.

Ravindra Jadeja may also be out of the white-ball series against England

However, as Cricbuzz has reported that Jadeja’s recovery is taking more time than expected and there’s “no chance” he will be fit for the Tests. Also, there has been a question mark being put on the all-rounder’s ability to be available for the 5 T20Is and 3 ODI matches against England that will follow the Test series.

This comes as a huge blow for the Indian team, who were forced to play Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar, along with Ravichandran Ashwin as Akshar Patel, who was included in the squad as a like-to-like replacement for Jadeja, got injured on the morning of the first Test.

However, both the spinners returned with woeful performances, as Sundar went wicket-less in the first innings giving away 98 runs in 26 overs. Shahbaz Nadeem, on the other hand, gave away 233 runs in his 59 overs in the Test match and picked just 4 wickets overall. He also bowled 9 no-balls in the Test and captain Virat Kohli also talked about Nadeem’s disappointing outing in Chennai.
