The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has been requested by the BCCI and the Indian national cricket team management to relieve left-arm pacer T Natarajan from their squad for the upcoming 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team management want him fresh. It is in the national interest and so we are ready to oblige,” the TNCA official said. “We had named a replacement should he be not available and that issue has been sorted out. We have released Natarajan,” TNCA secretary S Ramasamy confirmed the request.
Before Ramaswamy, Kasi Viswanathan had also talked about the same request by BCCI to release T Natarajan from the Tamil Nadu squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“That is what we have heard. We have not got a request in writing but we understand that the team management wants him to get ready by practicing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The secretary is looking into it. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will take the right decision,” Vishwanathan had told Cricbuzz.
The thinking behind the team management’s request is that the left-arm pacer should not be put through two stages of quarantine – one for the Vijay Hazare Trophy and another before entering the Team India bubble.
