IndiGO on Thursday stated that its servers were hacked during the early days of December, and did not rule out the possibility that hackers might upload some internal documents on public websites.

“We would like to make this disclosure that some of our servers were subject to a hacking incident earlier this month,” the airline said in a statement.

“There were some segments of data servers that were breached – so, there is a possibility that some internal documents may get uploaded by the hackers on public websites and platforms,” it added.

IndiGo has said that it is working with “all relevant experts and law enforcement” to investigate the incident in detail.

Meanwhile, India’s budget airlines have announced that that they will provide a refund to all passengers who have cancelled their tickets due to the coronavirus-enforced lockdown. The airlines assured that all refunds will be completed by January 31, 2021.

“Since the resumption of operations in May, IndiGo has been rapidly refunding amounts owed to customers whose flights had been cancelled during the lockdown. The airline has already processed close to Rs 1000 crore of refunds, which is approximately 90 percent of the total amount owed to our customers. IndiGo is committed to complete payment against all pending credit shells latest by January 31, 2021,” a statement issued by the airlines read.
