IPL 2021 Auction: After Being Snubbed 13 Times, Mushfiqur Rahim Decides Against Registering For Upcoming Mini-Auction

India vs Bangladesh

Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the better white-ball cricketers of the modern era, someone who has won so many games for his country during his 14-year career.

Rahim, a short-statured cricketer, is a perfect example of a pocket-size dynamo, who boasts of the ability to take the game away from the opposition during his stay at the crease.

However, for some reason, the IPL franchises have never shown any interest in shelling cash to grab the service of the former Bangladesh captain.

Mushfiqur Rahim has been throwing his hat in the ring for an elusive Indian Premier League contract since the tournament’s inception way back in 2008 but he is yet to find any takers.

Recently as many as 1097 players, out of which 283 are from overseas, registered for the upcoming IPL 2021 auction.

Among the 283 overseas cricketers who have registered for the auction, five are from Bangladesh. The list includes Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, and Mahmudullah.

However, frustrated by the lack of interest shown by franchises in previous years, Mushfiqur Rahim has not signed up for the auction for the first time in 14 years.

Talking to New Age on Saturday, NIBCO, the company which handles Mushfiqur Rahim’s account, confirmed that the Bangladesh stumper will not be a part of the 2021 IPL auction.

Speaking of Rahim’s T20 numbers, the Bangladesh cricketers has played 202 matches, in which he has scored 4288 runs with 25 50+scores. As far as his T20I stats are concerned, Rahim has played in 86 matches, scoring 1282 runs at a strike-rate of 120.03.
