IPL 2021 Auction Dates: Confirmed! IPL 14 player auctions to take place on February 18 in Chennai

IPL 2021 Auction Dates: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 player auctions dates were announced on Wednesday. According to a tweet on IPL official page, the auctions will take place on February 18 in Chennai.

IPL 2021 schedule and venue

A call also needs to be taken on the venue of this year’s tournament. While India will be the favoured venue for the cash-rich league, a call will be taken in some time. The domestic competitions being played out could well give the BCCI an idea if they can hold the cash-rich league in India.

UAE definitely will be the second option considering how well the tournament was organised in the 13th edition.

“India will be the preferred choice, but it also depends a lot on how the situation is and a better picture will be got after the Mushtaq Ali tournament plays out. UAE was excellent and there is no doubt the Emirates Cricket Board ensured everything went on smoothly. But then, it is the Indian T20 league and we will look to host it here if possible and with the government’s approval,” a source in the know of developments had told ANI.

IPL 2021 slots, cash availability and players auction list

As of now, 55 players will be available for the IPL 14 auctions after the eight franchises — Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) — released its list of players retained and released.

RCB released 10 players, the most out of the eight teams. KXIP decided to end the contract for nine players. SRH had decided to retain a majority of its previous seasons squad, letting on five players go for auctions.

Interestingly, Kings XI will be going into the mini-auction with the largest purse of Rs 53.2 crore.
