IPL 2021 Auction: Haven’t Paid Too Much Attention To It – Kyle Jamieson On The Hype Around Surrounding Him

New Zealand pacer, Kyle Jamieson will be up for grabs in the IPL 2021 auction on Thursday (February 18). Jamieson has had an astronomical rise in international cricket and the 26-year-old is certain to be sold, indeed for big bucks as the franchises look for overseas fast bowlers.

Kyle Jamieson will be on the wishlist of every team considering his prowess with the ball and his late-order hitting. In his short 6-Test match career hitherto, the right-arm pacer has taken 36 wickets at an outstanding average of 13.27. He was also the Man of the Match on his ODI debut against India last year.

Ahead of the 5-match home T20I series against Australia, the 6 foot 8 inches tall seamer said that he is trying not to think much about the IPL auction – as he can’t do anything sitting in New Zealand – and instead focus on the upcoming series against Aaron Finch’s side.

To be fair, I haven’t paid too much attention to it and for me, I’ve been focused on what I can control here and I think things will pan out the way they are going to tomorrow night – whether that means I get picked up and go great and if not there’s still a lot of cricket to be played across the winter. I try not to pay too much attention. Things like that tend to take care of themselves,” Kyle Jamieson said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Playing in India would be a different experience: Kyle Jamieson

The Auckland-born fast bowler says that, if he is bought in the IPL auction, it would be really exciting to play in the Indian conditions and learn new skills. Jamieson hasn’t played cricket in India, and an IPL opportunity would be a great start to play with and against the best in the world.

“That experience, if it comes, I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but it’s certainly a different experience and a lot of new learnings to come from. The probably most exciting thing is that when you get to play in these different environments, there’s a lot of learning and ways to upskill and try to add strings to your bow,” the Kiwi pacer added.
