“This will be one of the best year for us on account of team sponsorships. We have sold almost every piece of the Team Jersey. Not only this even partnership slots, digital integrations slots are also filling up fast”, declared one of the top official of Punjab Kings.

“We are expecting almost 40% increase on sponsorship revenues this year. The response is fabulous from the sponsors on the back of super-successful IPL 2020”, confirmed Jake Lush McCrum, COO, Rajasthan Royals.

IPL 2021 – Team Sponsorships: According to the top media planners, the reason why franchises are doing such a brisk business with the brands is that not everyone can afford advertising with IPL 2021 official broadcaster Star Sports.

“Star Sports is selling inventory at almost 13-13.5 Lac per 10 seconds. Not every brand in the country can afford advertising with them. But what every brand wants is presence in IPL somehow and integration with franchise is the best solution. We feel franchise will see 25% uptick in sponsorship sales this year and it will grow further next edition”, said one of the top sports agency head.

IPL 2021 Team Sponsorship revenues will increase but ticket revenues goes for toss for IPL franchises

While sponsorship revenues will increase for the franchisees, they will lose on account of ticket sales. As IPL Governing Council has decided that fans will not be allowed in the stadiums, franchises will lose Rs 25 to 40 crore each on gate-sales.

For second year running, ticket sales as source of revenue will be completely wiped out of their PNL.

“Yes, after last year’s loss, we are a bit worried about this year’s revenue loss as well. I would say the loss could be around Rs 25 crore. But more than that we are going to lose our fans. That’s our biggest concern,” CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan told InsideSport.co

The IPL Governing Council Chairman informed InsideSport.co on Sunday that BCCI members have decided that in-venue spectators will not be allowed this year for the entire duration of IPL 2021.

“I can confirm that there will be no spectators allowed for this season. Not for a single match” Brijesh Patel told InsideSport in an exclusive interview.

Some teams are still hoping that the situation might get better and BCCI may decide to allow fans in the stadiums at a later stage of the tournament.

Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon said he was optimistic that the loss could be minimised. “We are still discussing with IPL and BCCI to find a solution. We hope and pray things get normal and some spectators are allowed in the later stage. We had spectators in the Test matches as well. So lets see, things might change. So putting a figure at this stage will be premature.”
