Mumbai Indians are turning up the heat as their preparations for IPL 2021 begins to gather pace. Mumbai Indians players from all over the world are beginning to assemble as the team guns for their sixth IPL crown. On Friday, MI’s New Zealand contingent comprising of Trent Boult, Jimmy Neesham and Adam Milne arrived in Chennai. Late on Friday, Mumbai Indians shared a video on Instagram of the team sweating it out as they gear up for their first match — the tournament opener against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In the video, the likes of Rahul Chahar are seen toiling hard in the Chennai sun.
The Mumbai Indians also shared snippets from their practice session on Instagram stories.
In one such video, an excited Krunal Pandya is seen welcoming fans to MI’s first training session in Chennai.
In another, Australian duo Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile seem to be in high spirits ahead of the session while coach Mahela Jayawardene is seen adressing the team.
In couple of other videos, the Chennai heat seems to be getting to some of the players.
Last season in the UAE, the Mumbai Indians had defeated Delhi Capitals in the final to clinch a record fifth IPL title — the most by any team.
IPL 2021 is another opportunity for the Rohit Sharma-led outfit to do something that has never been achieved in the tournament’s history — win the IPL title three years on the trot.
And MI will begin that quest against RCB in Chennai in the opening game of IPL 2021 on April 9.
