Jackie Goldschneider Reacts to Gia Slamming Her Over RHONJ Analogy, Says Teresa’s Rumor Took a Toll on Marriage

Jackie Golschneider is reacting to Gia Giudice‘s scathing statement about her as she seemingly claims Teresa Giudice is unintelligent and admits that she and her husband, Evan Goldschneider, were fighting behind the scenes.

Following The Real Housewives of New Jersey premiere, and the cocaine analogy heard ’round the Housewives world, Jackie is speaking out. In a new interview, she says she doesn’t regret trying to protect her family, but she does appear to be sincerely sorry for any grief her words may have caused Gia.

When asked about Gia’s statement in which she criticized Jackie, the Bravo mom-of-four took the high road and stated she hasn’t been keeping up with Gia’s social media. Instead, Jackie simply offered another apology.

“She’s a great girl and I would never want to hurt her reputation,” Jackie tells Entertainment Tonight. “I just want to make sure everyone understands that it was really just to get Teresa to understand – at the very end of a long and frustrating conversation – how I was feeling.”

“There was absolutely no truth to that,” Jackie reiterates. “It was definitely just an analogy. I was trying to make the point about … how words can hurt.”

This comes after fans flocked to Gia’s social media accounts and began mocking the 20-year-old and asking her if there was any truth behind the analogy, which Gia ultimately attempted to shut down on Twitter.

“Saying it was an analogy is making it excusable, it’s not,” Gia wrote on February 19. “My character is now being questioned. My name was used to make a point. No one should be used in that way. I am suffering the consequences for such an outlandish and untrue statement. While her marriage is happy [and] in tact.”

Jackie reveals that if she had known at the time that Teresa wouldn’t understand the comparison, she would have never used it.

“Honest to God, I really – I don’t dumb myself down for conversations with people who are not intelligent,” Jackie quips. “It was so clear as day that it was an analogy… and if I really thought that she wouldn’t understand that it was an analogy, I would never have said it.”

As fans know, the only reason the former attorney was arguing with Teresa to begin with is because the Standing Strong author was spreading rumors about Evan cheating. Though their marriage is solid today, Jackie says Evan was initially humiliated and began to partially place the blame on her, which caused them to fight. She claims the ordeal took a major toll on their entire family, especially their four young children.

“My kids were upset,” Jackie divulges. “My daughter, I remember, would cry every night asking if we’re going to get divorced. And I’m like, of course we’re not going to get divorced over it, but they are not used to us fighting. So, it was a really heavy, emotional week in my house.”

She and Evan were united regarding the validity of the rumors, but she admits they fought over the “fourth wall” and the best way to respond.

“He was just so upset and embarrassed and there was no one for him to yell at and be mad at except for me,” she reveals. “I was racked with guilt, because I did bring this into his life and now, he was getting slaughtered. I think that every time that he would get upset and start venting and get mad and angry, it was all coming down on me and I didn’t know what to do with it. So, it was just fight after fight of, ‘What do you want me to do? I told you I’ll leave. Is that what you want?’”

The star adds, “It was just a lot of back and forth and indecisiveness and, you know, at the end of the day, I just had to keep making the point of, ‘I love you more than I love this and I will leave if you want me to,’ and it was just a really frustrating experience, because I felt so guilty and so heavy for it, but there was nothing I could do to fix it.”
