Michael Vaughan Says Rishabh Pant Is One Of The Most Enjoyable Cricketers

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has said Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant is one of the most enjoyable cricketers to watch in recent times. Pant played a crucial role last month in India’s memorable Test series win against Australia. He scored a 97 in Sydney to help India draw the Test match and a match-winning 89* to help India win the final Test match at The Gabba. He also ended the series as the top-scorer for India scoring 274 runs in the four-match series.

Michael Vaughan has likened Rishabh Pant to that of Ben Stokes. Vaughan admitted himself to be a big fan of Pant’s batting.

Rishabh Pant Is India’s Ben Stokes: Michael Vaughan

“He is up there with Ben Stokes as the most enjoyable cricketers to watch. When Pant goes out to bat, I watch. I would not want to be next in because you know things will happen. But if he continues to play the game with the joy and energy he has at the moment as if he is still an 11-year-old then he will pose so many challenges to the opposing team,” Vaughan was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Michael Vaughan also compared Pant’s style of play to that of former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag. He said Pant has the same attacking instinct that Sehwag had in his playing days.

“Sehwag put the fear into opposing bowlers and Pant has the same ability at six to do the same. He will make mistakes and get out for low scores at times but he will also win so many games,” Vaughan added.

Meanwhile, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been nominated as one of the three candidates for ICC’s Player of the Month. Along with him England skipper Joe Root and Irish Batsman Paul Stirling are in the list as well.

Pant is a part of India’s Test squad against England for the first two Tests. England play India between February 5 to March 28 for four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs. Chennai will host the first two Tests. The final two Tests will be played at the newly built stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad will host the T20I series followed by Pune for the ODI series.
