A MiG-29K trainer aircraft operating at sea ditched at around 5 pm on Thursday, the Indian Navy informed.  One pilot has been recovered and a search by air and surface units is in progress for the second pilot. The aircraft crashed over the Arabian Sea on Thursday night. This is 3rd crash of MiG 29K in the past 12 months.

“A MiG-29K trainer aircraft operating at sea ditched at about 1700 hours on November 26,” an Indian Navy spokesperson said.An inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident, the spokesperson said.

Earlier on November 16, an Indian Navy MIG trainer aircraft crashed outside a village in Goa. Both the pilots had ejected safely, Indian Navy Flag Officer, Goa, Rear Admiral Philipose George Pynumootil, had said.

The officer said the aircraft was on a regular training sortie when the incident occurred.

A villager said the aircraft crashed on a rocky plateau on the outskirts of Verna, 15 kms from the state capital, around noon.
