Talking about Zain Imam, Tellychakkar said that the Naamkaran actor rejected the role because he did not want to do a supernatural show back then and was looking for other interesting offers. Harshad Chopda couldn’t be a part of the show due to some prior commitments. On the other hand, Nishant Singh Malkhani was already busy with Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega and was looking forward to Bigg Boss 14.
Karan Wahi was almost finalised to play Veer’s part in Naagin 5, but later, things didn’t pan out. Talking about Dheeraj Dhoopar, he was seen as Aakesh on the show alongside Hina Khan and Mohit Malhotra. Makers had approached him for a cameo given the fact that he plays the lead on Kundali Bhagya. Well, somebody’s loss is somebody’s gain. And Sharad Malhotra’s popularity has grown more after he started essaying the role of Veer in Naagin.
The actor had earlier opened upon being approached by Ekta for Veer. He said that he was blown away as people usually approached him with positive male lead roles. “Initially when I was offered Naagin 5, I had this perception that I was going to be the hero. But then I was corrected saying that no, Ekta Ma’am wants you as the antagonist, as the villain and that completely took me by surprise. It was something which I never expected,” Sharad said while adding that nobody had even thought of offering a negative character to him in his career. “Considering that I was doing TV for the last 14-15 years, nobody had the guts to offer me the negative lead. By guts, I mean that nobody visualised me like this. I have been playing only hero or the protagonist, the positive guy for the longest time, I played a warrior, a sanskari beta or pati but never a grey character. I am forever going to be grateful to them for this opportunity, Ekta just threw a googly,” he added.
