  • OnePlus has started teasing the launch of a fitness band in India.
  • A reliable tipster says the device will launch as soon as next week.
  • It will go on sale in the country through Amazon.

Update, January 8, 2021 (10:20 AM ET): Today, OnePlus sent out press invites for an event happening on January 11. It confirms that we will see the OnePlus Band launch on that date. However, OnePlus still hasn’t confirmed the name of the device, but we are certain it will use the Band branding.

Due to the nature of the press invite, we are assuming the Band will be an India-only product, at least at first.

Original article, January 4, 2021 (02:24 AM ET): OnePlus has started teasing the launch of its first fitness band in India. Renders and other details of the so-called OnePlus Band leaked last week and the company has now confirmed that the wearable will go on sale in India through Amazon.

OnePlus hasn’t announced the official launch date, but according to tipster Ishan Agarwal, the band will be unveiled on January 11. Agarwal also let out key specs of the OnePlus Band, including a 1.1-inch AMOLED display, 24/7 heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, 14-day battery life, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and 13 exercise modes.

As you can see above, OnePlus’ tweet also offers a glimpse at the fitness band. From this image and what we’ve seen in the leaked renders, it closely resembles the Mi Band 5. The activity tracker is also expected to take on Xiaomi’s counterpart in terms of pricing, with Agarwal claiming it’ll cost around Rs. 2,499 (~$34).

It looks like OnePlus wants to start at the lower end of the wearables market before releasing a more premium device. The company has already confirmed that it’s also making a smartwatch that’ll land early this year. You can read more about the OnePlus Watch here.

Meanwhile, you can now sign-up for a contest to win the OnePlus Band on the company’s website. We’ll keep you posted about the device as and when we get more information.
