Proud daddy Kunal Kemmu recollects the emotions he went through when he held his baby Naumi the first time

MUMBAI: It was in 2017 that Bollywood actors Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu welcomed their first child, a baby girl. The little one, now named Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, has turned into social media’s favourite star kid over the years. Kunal recounted the emotions he felt moments before welcoming his baby girl.

“The initial jitters mixed with the surge of excitement are some of the emotions I went through, moments before holding my little daughter in my arms,” he said, adding, “Nothing can surpass the peace and immense joy I felt as Inaaya’s beautiful eyes looked up at me with so much trust and love, both me and Soha were completely captivated since then and still are.”

Kunal, who has now collaborated with Pampers, shared that it feels like the brand has taken a leaf out of their story to capture all of the moments from a father’s lens beautifully. “It’s the little things that go a long way like changing diapers, reading her a book before sleep, bathing her, feeding her. And those small giggles and toothy smiles make me feel like the luckiest man in the world and I would want every father to experience this bliss,” he said, adding, “So, I am joining hands with Pampers to encourage new dads to pledge for equal parenting for not only for them but little one too.”

Even when Soha and Kunal were expecting their first child, the duo didn’t get into dividing duties so to say. Looking back, the actor shared, “We never got into what will be whose job. We were just very excited and nervous at the same time as we were going to be first-time parents. We were also aware that there would be many sharing their experiences with us. Adding to that, it was also important for us to find our own way and rhythm while keeping their words of wisdom in mind.”

The actor is of the view that all of it happens naturally since every child is different and parenting styles, too, change with different situations. “Soha and I always work as a team, especially since we are role models for her. We also vowed that we would encourage her to be her best self and do what she loves by equipping her with the right tools and giving her wings so she can fly,” he explained.

When asked if there are any parenting-related things he and Soha disagree on, the actor shared that for them, parenting is a learning process and both contribute to it equally. “Parenting is beautiful when there is an equal contribution from both; it makes the journey more memorable for the baby and for us, so it is important to be in it together,” he said stressing that partnership is of the utmost importance.
