Ravi Shastri Bats For Much-Needed Break For Indian Players After IPL 2021

Head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri has volunteered for a much-needed break for the Indian players after IPL 2021. The team has been under a constant bubble since the IPL. After which they travelled to Australia and now while playing England, they have been a part of different bubbles during times. While the tournaments are being organised with a gap of about two weeks, what’s troubling the Indian players is the number of days they’ve had to quarantine themselves since the resumption of cricket.

Speaking to Star Sports, Ravi Shastri spoke about how life is difficult inside the different bubbles and in the process spoke about a much-needed break for the players.

Bubbles Are Mentally Draining: Ravi Shastri

“I do believe you need a break from international cricket at some point. After the England series, yes they go into the IPL. Again after the IPL, a couple of weeks off is a must. Because in these quarantines, in these bubbles, it is mentally draining. You are a human, at the end of it all,” Shastri told Star Sports.

England play India between February 5 to March 28 for four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs. Chennai will host the first two Tests. The final two Tests will be played at the newly built stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad will host the T20I series followed by Pune for the ODI series.

Indian players will be playing the IPL after the ongoing series against England comes to an end. This means that they will be in another bubble for over two months.

It has been reported that the IPL could start in the second week of April and would go on till the end of May. India will be playing the Asia Cup followed by the T20 World Cup as well. It will be interesting to see how much time does BCCI give the players to live a life outside the bubble.
