The Real Housewives of New York City cast is not happy with Bethenny Frankel or the timing of her engagement announcement, but she’s not concerned.
On Tuesday, after a few days of speculation, Bethenny confirmed that she and Paul Bernon are engaged. However, the timing is interesting because it happened to be around the same time the season 13 RHONY trailer dropped, and the current cast definitely took notice.
“They’re all confused why she’s still obsessed with RHONY and would orchestrate her engagement news to come out the same time as the trailer for the show,” a source told Page Six, adding, “Bethenny is just being her petty self, but she can’t take away the cast’s happiness or how hard they worked this season during the coronavirus pandemic.”
It’s unclear if any of the Skinnygirl mogul’s former castmates congratulated her, but they clearly took the time to throw a bit of shade.
“The cast collectively feels like the show is so much better without her and that she wouldn’t have been able to navigate the serious topics of this season,” the insider snarked.
In the trailer, Eboni K. Williams — who is the first Black woman to be cast on the series — is seen calling Ramona Singer out for the way she speaks about her “help,” so it seems the women will be discussing some important social justice issues this season.
Nevertheless, according to Bethenny’s rep, she could care less how the women feel about the timing of her engagement.
“Bethenny is living her best life and isn’t concerned with what the cast thinks,” the rep explained.
The person also pointed out that the former reality star only confirmed the news herself after the paparazzi spotted the enormous ring on her finger.
Speaking of the incredible ring Paul slipped on her finger, it’s reportedly worth about seven figures. According to one jewelry expert, the ring is worth about $1 million as the center stone alone looks to be about eight to 10-carats.
“It looks like she wore a three-stone ring that features a huge 8- to 10-carat emerald-shaped center stone set with two smaller emerald accent diamonds we estimate to be around 3 carats total,” the expert told Page Six. “If it’s a real, natural diamond, I’d estimate its retail value at up to $1 million for a natural emerald-shaped diamond ring of that size. And if not … probably under $5,000 as a good fake.”
