Saif Ali Khan shares why he allowed the team of Tandav to shoot inside Pataudi Palace

Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming fictional political drama Tandav, a web-series created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has people raving with excitement.

In a recent revelation made by the actor himself stated that for the first time ever, Saif Ali Khan shot at his own ancestral palace in Pataudi. Saif said that while he never allows film crews to shoot inside the property, he made an exception for Tandav.

Saif’s character Samar Pratap Singh is the catalyst of this fictional political system. As an ambitious politician with his eyes at the Prime Minister’s chair, who belongs to a family of powerful leaders, therefore, a palace-like house was a necessary requirement, the actor said.

He also spoke about how renting out the palace still makes him nervous. The palace can be given out for shoots sometimes because it remains unused 340 days of the year. These days, film crews have become responsible and look after the venues, however, the idea of a shoot still makes him nervous.

The actor said that he is more comfortable if they are filming around the exterior of the palace. But for Tandav, he made an exception by shooting inside the palace.

Speaking about his character with the media, Saif shared, “My character in Tandav – we are talking about this politician who is powerful and dangerous because of how he reacts. And I was drawn to the character because you don’t know what he is thinking, he’s got this mysterious placid exterior but what’s happening behind the scenes is quite dramatic and anything can happen. So, he’s entertaining to watch and of course he’s kind of make believe, so he can go to any length and I find that kind of reaction interesting and I have gone through a phase maybe where few of these roles have come together and some of these negative roles that I have been drawn to are extremely well written, better written than some positive characters one has heard off, if you think in those terms. I don’t think in those terms. I think of what’s an interesting job, you live at home, life is good, you’ve got your family you’ve got your outlook on life.

Produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, the 9-episode political drama features a strong ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino Morea, Kumud Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Amyra Dastur, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Sandhya Mridul, Annup Sonii, Hitten Ttejwani, Paresh Pahuja and Shonali Nagrani among others.

Tandav is all set to be premiered on January 15, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
