Sarfaraz Ahmed Lashes Out At Mohammad Hafeez After The Latter Sparks The Best Keeper-Batsman Debate

Former Pakistan captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed responded strongly to Mohammad Hafeez’s tweet when the veteran batsman indirectly took a dig at Sarfaraz while praising Mohammad Rizwan.

Rizwan, who opened the innings against South Africa in the T20I match on Thursday in Lahore, struck his maiden T20I century as the hosts won the thriller by just 3 runs. Rizwan has emerged as the all-format first-choice keeper for Pakistan after Sarfaraz Ahmed was dropped following his poor captaincy and poor batting returns.

Mohammed Hafeez, who was not picked in the squad for the South Africa T20Is despite showing brilliant form in New Zealand, asked when would Rizwan be acknowledged as the no.1 keeper-batsman in the country while he congratulated the centurion.

“Congratulations @iMRizwanPak on scoring T20 Hundred 100. U r a Star shining star. Wonder how long u need to prove that u r NO1 wicketkeeper/Batsman in Pakistan in all formats of the game. Just asking” tweeted Hafeez.

We expect positiveness from a senior international player: Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was benched for the first T20I, was utterly disappointed and upset with Hafeez’s jibe at him. The 33-year-old, in a series of tweets, blasted Hafeez saying that anyone keeper who is given an opportunity to represent his country is the best and is respected in the fraternity.

“Hafeez bhai Sb, whoever has played for Pakistan from Imtiaz Ahmed, Wasim Bari, Tasleem Arif to Saleem Yousuf and from Moin Khan, Rashid Latif to Kamran Akmal and even Rizwan right now has always been number ONE for the country and have been respected accordingly,” replied the former skipper.

Sarfaraz, who led Pakistan to the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy title, says that he supports Rizwan as a teammate and wishes for his success as it will help the Pakistan cricket team. The right-hander also urges Hafeez, who has played over 350 international matches, to show positivity for his teammates as all represent the same country.

“We are all behind Rizwan and wish that he plays many more amazing innings for our beloved country.

“Aur ayende bhee jisko bhee chance milega wo Pakistan ke liye number ONE hee huga. We expect nothing but positiveness coming from an international player who has played so many games for Pakistan,” Sarfaraz added.
