Stand-by today, star tomorrow: How well do you know Arzan Nagaswalla?

Arzan Nagwaswalla is a Gujrati cricketer who is on a dream run right now. He has had excellent few seasons with Gujrat in the Ranji trophy and has performed magnificently in the Duleep Trophy and the Vijay Hazare trophy.

After seeing his domestic performances, it was evident that he might be selected for the IPL as well, but that wasn’t to be. He and his family are sure that he might have an IPL contract sooner rather than later. He is not an express bowler but can go up to the speeds of 140 kph, the thing that gets him wickets is his line and length. Most of his scalps have come from the on-side corridor, also known as the corridor of uncertainty.

Players who can consistently bowl in the right areas deserve wickets, and Nagwaswalla has shown his worth to the Indian selectors. His domestic numbers are staggering and have resulted in him getting selected as a stand-by player for the WTC final and the England Tests in August. With his kind of bowling, and the number of tests, India is playing, and he might not be stand-by for a long time.

After his selection as a stand-by player, he was happy to get selected but says that his dream is still not over and would like to represent India one day. He added that even though he might not play, being in the bio-bubble and the Indian team is an experience of a lifetime. He hopes that he learns a lot along with the fantastic pace battery unit that the Indians possess.

Nagwaswalla’s story is pretty unique, and it is excellent to see the dreams of such people come true. He can be another example of how the Chetan Sharma -led selection committee is better than the MSK Led committee. They believe in rewarding the players for consistent Domestic performances, which was rarely seen in the latter committee.
