In a shocking incident, a 47 year-old dentist from from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district was arrested for allegedly forging his daughter’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test score card.
Not just that, he also forged a call letter for medical counselling to get an admission in MBBS for his daughter, police said on Saturday.
The dentist, Balachandran, from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district was arrested and produced before a court which remanded him to judicial custody on Friday.
A police officer said the dentist has been lodged at the Saidapet sub-jail.
The matter came into notice recently during MBBS admission counselling session, where the father and daughter duo turned up and produced a ‘call letter’ for counselling with a ‘NEET marksheet’ that showed a score of 610.Â
It was during close inspection, medical admission authorities found that her name did not figure either in the rank chart or call list for counselling.
It was found that the girl had a score of 27 but submitted a forged certificate and similarly, the call letter too was fake. Based on a complaint from authorities, police launched a search and arrested the dentist.
The incident was first reported in December last year. According to police, the candidate was identified as NB Deeksha from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district.
The official had alleged that the candidate manipulated the provisional rank list released by the DME by replacing the name of another candidate, N Hrithika, with hers, as reported by The New Indian Express on December 13, 2020.
Equipped with the doctored documents, the official claimed that the girl and her father, Dr N K Balachandran, a dentist, approached the counselling venue on November 30, though she was not invited for the same due to ineligibility.
