The second season of this Mandalorian was a true treat for Star Wars fans, folding the streaming collection into the franchise’s enlarged universe with major figures from throughout the saga making guest appearances.

The action culminated in an astonishingly moving finale which left the future uncertain for bounty hunter Din Djarin and his eldest son Grogu, together with viewers eager to understand what another chapter has in store.

They’ll have to wait sometime to get replies as the third season of this Mandalorian is not expected to arrive before the end of the calendar year, allegedly set to premiere soon after the hotly anticipated spin-off: The Book of Boba Fett.

However, in addition to his series, speculation is rampant that Mando could pop up in some of the many companions shows planned for the not too distant future, such as Rangers of the New Republic or Ahsoka.

Actor Pedro Pascal seemed to hint at this possibility in a recent interview with IndieWire, saying: “They’re in the growth of this world, where there are so many surprises and timelines which are likely to be taken care of.

“If the character were to cross into these worlds, it’ll be utilized in a way that is not meant to be anticipated. I would not wish to spoil the shock of whether or not the characters in the show we already know are crossing over.”

When is Season 3 coming out?

There is no official date yet, but at Disney’s Investor Day demonstration Kathleen Kennedy explained that another chapter of The Mandalorian would debut approximately Christmas 2021. Together with the series’s cheeky post-credits statement that The Book of Boba Fett, a spin-off centered around the other famous Star Wars bounty hunter, would be coming in December 2021, a few were led to believe Boba Fett is your”second chapter” of The Mandalorian, but Jon Favreau supported that they were two different shows and that the third season of The Mandalorian will debut later Boba Fett does.

The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian season 3 plot

The Mandalorian season two’s finale gave us some big clues as to what we could anticipate from season three, with the most notable being the break-up of this series’ central duo. Read our entire The Mandalorian review for in-depth final details.

At the close of the incident Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) arrives to take Grogu/Baby Yoda for coaching, and after an emotional farewell (which saw Mando take his helmet off) Din is left standing alone, ” The Child shot to an unknown occasion.

This seems to suggest that Mando and Baby Yoda is going to be split for at least part of the next show as the latter continues his training — but given the prevalence of the personality and his centrality to the show, it appears unlikely they’ll be kept apart for too long.

Who knows? Maybe we will even find some more of digital Luke Skywalker as he trains Baby Yoda, assuming Mark Hamill is one plank to get more adventures in a galaxy far far away.

In the meantime, Pascal’s Din Djarin might have his issues to attend to. In the finale, he bests Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in combat and carries the Darksaber — a legendary Mandalorian weapon held by the ruler of the planet Mandalore — to contribute to Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, that had been hunting it for a while.

Regrettably, as Moff Gideon gleefully disclosed she needed to win against the Darksaber in the battle to claim it, with Bo-Katan unable to bring it out of Din despite his entreaties unless he fought. This tension was quickly punctured by the arrival of more Dark Troopers and Luke, but we are betting we haven’t seen the final of this Darksaber tussle in The Mandalorian. Who knows? Maybe after all this time, we will finally visit Mandalore itself, which has as of yet not appeared at the Disney+ show.

And there’s at least one more thread left dangling after Moff Gideon reveals that he already took Baby Yoda’s Force-friendly bloodstream before the team’s arrival. Where did the blood flow? If not Moff Gideon, who’s using it, and for what? Can it be linked to Snoke and the return of the Emperor at The past Skywalker, or is there some other insidious function?

We believe that the Mandalorian season three will direct us to learn.

Who will be in the cast?

Pedro Pascal will be back as Din Djarin, otherwise known as Mando, and Katee Sackhoff will likely return as Bo-Katan, as well as Sasha Banks as Koska Reeves. Gina Carano’s Cara Dune and Carl Weathers’ Greef Karga will probably also put in appearances. Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen could pop up again as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, respectively, but they have their very own show now, and their problems to be concerned about. Perhaps Rosario Dawson could reunite as Ahsoka Tano, although her event did seem like it was just a one-time thing, plus she is getting her show too. Whatever occurs, please bring back Peli Motto, Amy Sedaris’ big-haired spaceship mechanic.
