As we know India is struggling in a very critical condition due to the unpredictable tsunami of coronavirus second wave with the lack of basic medical needs, beds and the most important oxygen concentrators. As a result, many people have been losing their lives and it’s now in worse condition than ever.
Not only this much, in Maharashtra, but a prediction is also made by some experts of the medical field that the 3rd wave of coronavirus is possibly going to hit Maharashtra by July and August as revealed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after consulting with epidemiologists on Thursday 30 April. He also warned the state administrators to be cautious from the start for the third wave of coronavirus as the current disaster should not repeat again in the future.
The prediction has been made on the basis of the study of patterns of covid waves in various countries, according to the members of the state task force including experts from the medical field.
On Thursday, CM Uddhav Thackeray also called a meeting of Divisional Commissioner and District Collectors to tackle the covid pandemic situation. ” We will have to become self-sufficient, especially in Oxygen supply. The CM said he did not want to hear any reason for shortage of Oxygen supply then”, Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.
He also said, ” We want the local administrations to be at an Oxygen surplus by July. For this, orders for setting up 125 PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology plants have been issued and in the next 10 days, their installation will begin across the state. District Collectors have been directed to procure 5 to 10 LPM Oxygen concentrators in proportion to 25% of the total active patients in their respective districts, so that all the mild and serious patients will be able to get regular Oxygen supply in any case. “
According to the point of view of epidemiologists, a senior official said that in the next two months, the situation will come under control but as soon as all the restrictions are lifted it is believed that the third wave of coronavirus will again hit the state. CM Uddhav Thackeray said, even though the situation has come under the control to some extent owing to the strict restrictions, Maharashtra government has to be cautious and start planning for the third wave. He also asked the administrators to ensure adequate supply of medicines for the third wave, in the meeting.
State health minister Rajesh Tope gave satisfactory assurance that the two – tier cities where there are no major government hospital facilities, will impose a tertiary treatment of the patient through the development of Tele-ICU facilities. Tope also said , with the bed of each patient, a high resolution camera will be installed so that their condition can be monitored by expert doctors in the city. Being a part of early preparations for Covid-19, Rajesh Tope has directed for the strict Fire audit, Structural audit and adequacy of Oxygen supply. District Collectors have been directed to ensure all hospitals are conducting these audits in a disciplined way and on time.
