She added, “I don’t think that you can claim ownership on a culture or a nationality and then disallow privileges to those people, either through certain political perspectives or just subjugating them in other ways. And I don’t think you can use your personal multiculturalism as a shield for people saying that you have biases.”
After Kelly seemingly clapped back by mocking the 29-year-old’s alleged “stupid tree tattoo” in a since-deleted tweet, Veronica is now inviting people dealing with parents of differing beliefs to join her support group so she can help them find their own “boundaries.”
“I actually just started a support group for people who have conservative parents, or parents with different political beliefs, and we talk a lot about context,” Veronica revealed on the Shut Up Evan podcast, “where did that come from, why do they believe that? I think it’s a lack of diversity and understanding of experiences.”
Veronica admits fighting with one’s parents about politics or other beliefs is mentally unhealthy.
“Boundaries are important, that is what I have learned, and being aware when the fight is not worth your mental health, or theirs, and step back,” Veronica shared.
Nevertheless, though the very private social worker is speaking out and standing up for what she believes, she admits that she was actually a “huge” fan of Kelly’s before she even met the star, and claims the reality star is really a very “warm” person.
“Oh, I’m a huge Kelly Dodd fan!” she declared. “I was there when [my dad met her]. She was staying at [Ramona Singer‘s] summer house and they came to my dad’s party. He was throwing a pool party, it was so casual, it was like beers in cans and everyone was playing stupid pool games. They came and I was absolutely going out of my mind; I was so excited! I mean, titans, Bravo titans, were coming to my home. It was incredible and yeah it was very exciting,” she joyfully recalled.
Considering all the controversy surrounding her stepmother at the moment, Veronica was asked if she thinks it would be better or helpful for their family dynamic if Kelly was no longer on the show, and she reveals that she simply wants Kelly and her father, Rick Leventhal, to be happy.
“I think they should have whatever they want,” she stated. “If they want to be on the show and they want to keep going, then that’s what they should do because I’m not on the show. I clearly didn’t sign a release and I made that decision for myself, but I would never want to take away something that makes them happy.”
