Vijay Hazare Trophy:T Natarajan released from Tamil Nadu’s Vijay Hazare squad after BCCI’s request

Vijay Hazare Trophy:India’s left-arm pacer T Natarajan has been released by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad after BCCI’s request. With India set to face England in three ODIs and five T20Is from March 12, Natarajan is expected to be included in the squad and BCCI want him fresh for the series.

However, the primary reason behind BCCI’s request is to save the pacer from two quarantines. As per current guidelines, Natarajan should have entered a team bubble for Vijay Hazare Trophy after spending a minimum of seven days in quarantine. He would have to follow the same procedure for the national team. Now, Natarajan will head directly to National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as per BCCI’s request.

“That is what we have heard. We have not got a request in writing but we understand that the team management wants him to get ready by practising at the NCA. The secretary is looking into it. The TNCA will take the right decision,” TNCA’s Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.

TNCA secretary S Ramasamy confirmed BCCI’s request and said that Natarajan was released from the squad with a replacement brought in. He added that it was in the national interest and therefore the state board obliged.

“The BCCI and the team management want him fresh. It is in the national interest and so we are ready to oblige. We had named a replacement should he be not available and that issue has been sorted out. We have released Natarajan,” Ramasamy said.

Natarajan debuted for India against Australia last month, playing in one Test. He scalped three wickets in his debut Test. Before that he made his India debut in white-ball cricket against the same opponent. He bagged six wickets in the T20I series and two in the only ODI he played in.

As for Tamil Nadu, they will be ready to fire from all cylinders in the Vijay Hazare Trophy having won the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy last month.
