On Sunday (January 10) veteran Pakistani batsman, Shoaib Malik suffered a near-to-death experience when he met with a car accident while returning from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft event which was held at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore.

Malik’s red sports car plunged into a truck in Lahore. In the videos and images emerged of the horrifying accident, the front part of Malik’s expensive sports car is completely destroyed.

According to a report filed by SAMAA TV, the former Pakistan captain lost control of his vehicle before colliding ‘head-on’ with a truck that was parked nearby a local restaurant.

Malik, who is married to India’s tennis star Sania Mirza, tried to overtake Wahab Riaz’s car. Consequently, he lost control of his own four-wheeler and crashed into the stationed vehicle.

A Lahore based journalist, Ghulam Abbas Shah has uploaded the video on his Twitter account – the front of the car is utterly demolished, as can be seen in the video.

Thankfully, the 38-year-old not only has survived the accident but has come out of it unscathed. Malik, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, took to Twitter to thank his fans and told them that he is “perfectly all right”.

The right-hander revealed that the accidence was a coincidence – he thanked God for his generosity. Malik is grateful for the love and supports his fans gave him on that tough night.

“I am perfectly all right everybody. It was just a happenstance accident and Almighty has been extremely Benevolent. Thank you to each one of you who’ve reached out. I am deeply grateful for all the love and care…” ~ Shoaib Malik,” tweeted the former skipper.

Malik has retired from the longer format of the game but continues to play T20 cricket for Pakistan and in various franchise leagues. He recently won the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League with the Jaffna Stallions. Malik was dropped from Pakistan’s T20 team for the New Zealand tour after his low scores against England.
