Will Kangana Ranaut bow down to covid pressure and postpone Thalaivi release? Read exclusive deets | Bollywood Life

Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi has been slotted for a theatrical release on April 23, 2021. The film has great buzz around it and the actress had declared, that while other biggies are postponing the release of their films, she will see the audience in theatres and bring Bollywood back on its feet with a mass opener. However, Kangana might be forced to revisit her plan now. With covid-19 cases growing in Maharashtra and new restrictions put in place, including shutting down theatres, Thalaivi may have to look at a later release date. An industry insider has exclusively revealed to Bollywood Life that the film’s team is in a quandary right now, following the new covid-19 guidelines in the state of Maharashtra. “Kangana and team Thalaivi had grand plans for the release of the movie. It is releasing in different languages and the buzz has been great ever since the trailer came out. However, there are ongoing discussions about postponing the release or staying put. The producers are consulting between themselves and are soon expected to come on a decision,” said the source. On the possibility of releasing the film in South languages and putting the Hindi release on hold, the source revealed, “That is certainly being discussed, but there is less possibility of the producers going with this decision. For one, it will kill the overall euphoria around the film and may dim the interest amongst the Hindi audience once the film finally hits screens. Also, cases are growing all around the country, and other states may come up with restrictions as well. Right now, it will only be leaving a lot to chance if the team does decide to go ahead with the original release date,” opined the source.
