Ind vs Eng 4th Test – Joe Root: England captain Joe Root has admitted that the current India tour is one of the hardest he has undertaken. According to Root, if England can beat Virat Kohli’s teamIndia in 4th test and series can end at 2-2 scoreline, it will be hailed as one of the greatest achievement by the England team.
“We’ve had two challenging weeks but that doesn’t define us as a team. We need to look at this as a real opportunity to do something special.
“We’ve had some good conversations and the last couple of days the guys have got stuck in and worked really hard. This is still a huge game for us and it would be a brilliant achievement to leave here at 2-2. So there’s loads to play for.”
How tough it is for England to beat India in 4th Test?
– India have not lost two test in a home series since 2012 i.e when England won the series 2-1
– Only time India has lost two tests in a home series other than 2012 is in year 2000 when South Africa defeated India 2-0
– Since 1984 their has not been any other instance of India losing two tests in any of the home series.
Root admits this kind of phenomenal record at home makes India a very tough team to beat at home.
“You look at India’s record at home in recent times and it’s incredible,” Root said. “So, for us to come away with a drawn series would be a really good achievement, especially off the back of the last two games”.
India vs England 4th Test: England cricketers fighting sickness bug
Meanwhile another reason Root feels the 4th test becomes more challenging for England is because England’s under-pressure cricketers have been fighting a sickness bug that has spread through the camp.
A number of players have been laid low since they were beaten in just over five sessions in Ahmedabad last Thursday.
‘There’s been a bit of stuff flying round and we’ll keep monitoring it,’ admitted Root. ‘I don’t know who’s been affected badly at this stage but it’s just really important we try and give everyone the best chance of selection.’
Root did not reveal the names which England players have fallen sick. At least every player in the squad was able to train on Tuesday.
